Communication Skills
The essential skills required of a Long Hai security guard include the effective use of communication tools and methods.
Long Hai security personnel must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with others, both verbally and in writing. Verbal communication is used in various situations.
Guards may use two-way radios to communicate with colleagues and must do so professionally. They also need to handle situations involving intruders calmly, such as requesting the return of assets without escalating tension. Some positions require answering phone calls, where strong telephone communication skills are essential. Security personnel may also be questioned as witnesses or victims, or be required to prepare incident reports and provide testimony.
Report writing is a daily task. At the end of each shift, many security personnel are required to document all activities during their shift. These reports must be clear and accurate so that the next shift can continue operations effectively. Incident reports may also be reviewed by supervisors and, in serious cases, used as evidence for handling situations.
As with any profession, effective communication with supervisors and colleagues is essential.
2. Observation Skills
Long Hai security personnel must be able to detect unusual signs related to property and surroundings, such as unlocked windows, signs of forced entry, suspicious traces, or unauthorized individuals.
They must also be capable of assessing people through observation, asking appropriate questions during interactions, and applying judgment to anticipate potential incidents, accidents, or fire hazards.
3. Physical Fitness
Many security roles require continuous patrol or standing at a post for extended periods. Long Hai security personnel must have sufficient physical endurance to stand or walk for long durations. In situations involving theft or violations, guards must have the strength to intervene or restrain offenders. The job may also require the use of supporting tools such as batons, electric devices, or motorcycles, which demand good physical condition, driving skills, and vision.
In addition, security personnel must possess strong mental resilience, remain calm in emergencies, and maintain alertness to avoid being deceived or manipulated by offenders.
4. Technical Skills
Long Hai security personnel frequently use two-way radios and may be required to operate computers for logging daily security activities. They may also need to use fax machines, photocopiers, surveillance cameras, and other automated control systems.
If equipped with security tools, personnel must demonstrate proficiency in using them effectively through proper training before deployment.
